  • Foshan Midea Golf Club

    Foshan Midea Golf Club

    05/11/2015

     Foshan Midea Golf Club
Royal Orchid International Golf, Health and Sport Club Houseis a high endentertainment center designed by combining a Golf club with a leisure center on a breathtaking landscape in Foshan. In order to enjoy as much of the surroundings as possible, open public spaces offer views on the golf fields, bringing the outdoors to the visitors while indoors. Thus, the heart of the design is an enjoyable open platform where visitors experience as much the activities offered by the center as what nature has to offer.
The new building integrates to the surroundings with an extension of the public and green landscape. Through elevated green roof terraces we connect the new building with the existing green areas and the golf field. The design becomes gently absorbed in the landscape, whilst maintaining their individual identity. These roofs are envisioned as elevated landscaped plateaus, each addressing a different portion of the Masterplan with its terracing, providing panoramic views which extend far into the surrounding landscape.
The shapes of the building are articulated so as to achieve a harmonious and coherent master plan, as well as ensuring good sun orientation and excellent views. The building is fluid in form, accommodating to its surroundings and incorporates expansive sightlines. The new clubhouse use the traditional knowledge of previous western club house combined with a modern architecture design. The internal organization of the building is based on an open central void, around which the circulation takes place. This courtyard in the middle reminds the other two existing architecture on the masterplan while create a connection public space between the golf club and the sport Center.
As design strategy we can find three layers of circulation, public traffic roads that integrate to the existing circulation on site buildings, private Cart roads access to the golf field and pedestrian walkable areas with an alternative circulation routes. An internal circulation will separate the normal members on the golf club to the VIP members. VIP’s had a private access parking in the second level and with a full entire third level where the views are maximize.
Privacy, exclusivity and privilege are addressing concept into the design. A three floors club house program includes public members and dining areas and private corporate functions on the third floor. On the Health and Sport Center side we have 4 floors of entertainment and sport venues and a top roof no edge outstanding pool is located in the 5th floor providing the top high end value 360 degrees panoramic views of the site.
We reduced energy consumption by providing natural light and indoor ventilation. In addition to creating a comfortable, natural surrounding, a primary concern in the design is to create an energy neutral and highly efficient building.

    West Harbor Qinghuangdao
This new masterplan is a proposal for Qinghuangdao, north of Beijing, China; with an overall plan for a 150 000 population; 980 ha of land, 10 million sqm of floor area.
The goal of the new city was to build the image of a modern coastal city centre with the design of large-scale continuous public space, diversified avant-garde architecture forms, new types of service industry and a green living community.

Shanghai Regional Art Museum Project starts to build

    19/10/2015

Shanghai Regional Art Museum is located in Shanghai minhang district, the building area is about 15000 square meters. The construction has started on September 17, 2015. The project proposes Shanghai Regional Art Museum with a unique architectural character that corresponds to three contexts: The park landscape of Qibao Culture Park; The adjacent Minhang museum, the Shanghai region (Hai Pai) and its memories. The Park is 85 hectares of landscape and green space located in a dense urban area. The park includes water features, trees and plantings, an outdoor amphitheater and open space, among which the visitors can enjoy nature and culture.

SRAM is designed as a contemporary building; its scale and form respond to the open park site and the program, but its materials and expression recall memories from the rich cultural background of Shanghai.

There is no single image or single architecture that can represent the complex panoply of Shanghai. The architecture of the Shanghai region includes a variety of reference points. These include grand Chinese and European-style buildings; materials of brick, stone, terra cotta and metal; Art Deco details; and the rich, layered experience of the alleyway houses.

The SRAM building does not mimic a particular building type or style, but instead it captures and refers to these historic references –“Memories of Shanghai”, and implements them in a new way.
Critical to the design of SRAM is a clear, understandable circulation diagram. The entry sequence and circulation of SRAM enhance the visitors’ experience of the art museum and provide ease of use and orientation, anticipation and surprise, and places for reflection.

SURE Architecture on the honorable mention list for Milan Pavilion

    26/11/2014

    REFLECTION OF LIFE
For the Universal exhibition of Milan 2015, we have designed an information pavilion which reflects both the unity and the diversity of the world, its unceasing movement and evolution, and the incredible power of life to develop and rebirth. We aim to highlight how the planet changes around us and how that affects us. The organic structure of the pavilion appears to move and spaces appear to change around the visitors activating unexpected views. The colors and appearance of the pavilion follow the movement of the sun during the day and the growth of plants throughout the seasons.
Like a living structure, our pavilion breaths, grows, produces its own energy, gathers the natural elements (sun, water, air, earth) and is part of a cycle. Air circulates naturally through the pavilion. Photovoltaic cells included in the glass ceilings transform the sunlight to provide electricity to the business center, computers, screens, ATMs and phone chargers. Agriculture is contained in the architecture of the pavilion producing fruits and vegetables and at the same time naturally refreshing the internal temperature.
As a symbol of sustainability the wood is ubiquitous and used in different ways (wooden structures and floor, recycled wood for the platform, white wooden furniture).

    04/11/2014

The project of The Endless City in Height designed by SURE Architecture has been published in the CTBUH journal magazine.
On a cloudy day in the city of London, a design competition awarded first prize to a proposal entitled 'The Endless City in Height.' The design seeks to establish a continuous indoor urban promenade by incorporating two street-sized ramps that coil vertically into the sky. Each ramp would accommodate mixed functions, giving occupants free reign to design their own façades, creating a diversely built environment that mimics the complexity of historic marketplaces around the world. While each ramp would stand independently, they connect on the interior via staircases. The varied size of each level would allow for external balconies and courtyards to be enjoyed by the public.

Kam Fai Tai Attends the Fifth China International Eco-City Forum & Expo

    29/10/2014

Mr. Tai, Global Director and Chief Architect of SURE Architecture, attended the Fifth China (Binhai Tianjin) International Eco-City Forum & Expo as a keynote speaker. Mr. Tai’s speech theme is centered on the research of sustainable urban renewal of space in high-density cities. Along with the research on and comparison of space in high-density cities both domestically and overseas, Mr. Tai provided the example of the “Endless Vertical City” project which won first prize in the London high-rise building competition as the key case for illustrating how to study the texture of cities and how to exploit any tiny opening in high-density cities to practice sustainable urban renewal. Meanwhile low-carbon technologies and architecture design techniques are applied to deal with issues such as energy saving, transportation and the structure of three-dimensional cities or super high-rise buildings. Therefore a city in the city could be designed, which could be a development direction for the future high-density urban renewal.

BETWEEN THE RAILWAY AND THE SKY
Wimbledon Town Centre in 2030 will be an attractive, vibrant, innovative and sustainable beating heart.
Facing demographic growth, the need of space for new businesses to be established and the sustainable issues that are involved, our proposal is a comprehensive response which respects the local context while providing a mix of expansive public and private spaces to work, live, breath, gather and relax. The project is thought of as a spectacular inhabited bridge which develops over the railway lines and the surrounding areas of opportunity, while preserving the quality of the historical framework.
Designed like two different layers superimposed on top of each other, the project hosts a range of mixed-use programs (including shops, restaurants, cafes, offices and cultural functions) organized as a dynamic commercial street on the bridge's first level.
Streets on each side of the railway lines won't be cut off anymore and people could cross the railway lines by walking through our inhabited bridge without making any detour.
Consideration of sustainability has guided the project's design whilst also enriching the architectural and landscape experience. The shape of the building fosters passive energy, natural light and ventilation, and provides views of the city with less impact on the surroundings. The suspended landscape hosts a diversity of green areas (woodlands, fruit trees, shared vegetable gardens, perennial meadow flowers, wild tall meadows and wetlands), creating an ecosystem. Like a ‘green lung’ in the dense city, our project offers spaces for natural life to develop but also for citizens to enjoy nature and escape the stressful modern day life while being at the heart itself of our dynamic contemporary city.

Time Space Existence is one of the supporting exhibitions of the Venice Architecture Biennale 2014. SURE Architecture was invited by the Global Art Affairs Foundation as the only China based architectural practice. After knowing the theme of our exhibition, we wanted to highlight the concepts; time, space and existence through the exhibition and call our own space “memories”. We took “memories” as another space dimension. The “memories dimension” with a new “time dimension” have an important role when they are inserted into 3 dimensional space, creating a final 5-dimensional Architecture. These 5 dimensions might be a way to express the time, space and existence of architecture.
